R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company (RRD) reported financial results for the second quarter of 2022.
Net sales in the second quarter were $1.29 billion, up $143.2 million or 12.5% from the second quarter of 2021. Net sales were negatively impacted $14.9 million due to changes in foreign exchange, while the majority of the increase relates to higher client demand for most of the company’s products and services, and price increases to mostly offset inflationary cost increases.
RRD experienced significant growth in Commercial Print, Direct Marketing and Labels products. Organic net sales increased 13.8%. Income from operations was $60.7 million in the second quarter of 2022 compared to $28.2 million in the second quarter of 2021.
Non-GAAP adjusted EBITDA of $115.9 million increased $37.1 million from the prior year period. The increase was primarily due to the impact of higher net sales, ongoing cost control initiatives and favorable foreign exchange of approximately $4.4 million, partially offset by continued inflation.
