Doneck Network, Luxembourg, has now added the Finishfit WBC Microbe Protect product line of water-based dispersion varnishes with an antimicrobial and antiviral additive to its product range, developed and distributed by Epple.
Fujifilm offers the new varnish for the digital inkjet press JetPress.
Now, Doneck Network, operating internationally and specializing in solvent- and water-based flexo and gravure inks, also offers the varnish innovation for its target groups.
The varnishes enable printing companies to meet the growing demand for finished printing, packaging and advertising materials with antimicrobial and antiviral varnish at the same time.
Finishfit WBC Microbe Protect is also used to coat new types of protective walls made from corrugated cardboard, which are used as spacers as part of pandemic health concepts in offices or classrooms. The varnishes act as a barrier on the protective walls to prevent droplet infections.
The protective varnishes of the Finishfit WBC Microbe Protect series contain an additive with antibacterial and antiviral efficacy.
The varnishes contain elementary silver nanoparticles that are firmly anchored in the varnish film.
Positively charged silver ions are dissolved from the varnish film and released, which significantly reduces the number of bacteria and viruses on the varnish surface.
The effect is permanent and long-lasting because the nanoparticles themselves are not released and cannot be rubbed off the dried varnish.
