Diamond Packaging announced the debut of its 2020 corporate calendar, a promotional item given to customers and suppliers.
The calendar showcases many of Diamond’s capabilities, including multi-color UV printing, cold foiling, UV gloss spot coating, multi-level embossing, debossing, and intricate die-cutting.
The 2020 “Making Music” calendar, which was conceptualized, planned, and produced by the entire Diamond team, pays tribute to the electric guitar.
The inspiration was a Gretsch G5422TG Electromatic Hollow Body guitar with Bigsby vibrato tailpiece, gold hardware, pearl Hump Block inlays, and a walnut stain finish.
“The calendar demonstrates Diamond’s cutting-edge approach to package design,” said Dennis Bacchetta, director of marketing of Diamond Packaging. “We set out to create a colorful, beautifully-decorated structural and ornamental piece – one that users will want to interact with all year long. We also wanted to showcase the type of decorative effects that can cost-effectively elevate our customers’ brands, including cold foiling and multi-level embossing.”
The header and backers were converted utilizing Clearwater Candesce SBS paperboard, cold foiled, and offset printed with four-color process inks, in-line with UV matte, UV satin, and UV gloss spot coating.
Tightly-registered UV coatings were used to enhance the design and highlight the individual guitar components. High gloss UV spot coating brings out the beautiful walnut finish on the guitar body. Satin and matte UV coatings on the amp (end caps, fabric) provide a striking contrast to the glossy accents.
Cold foil delivers shimmering metallic effects on the guitar's tuning pegs, strings, frets, pick-ups, pickguard, and vibrato tailpiece. Rainbow holographic cold foil enhances the pearl inlays.
Multi-level embossing lends distinction and depth to the guitar components, including the headstock, tuning pegs, neck, strings, frets, pick-ups, pickguard, vibrato tailpiece, and body. The leather embossed pattern on the amplifier head simulates the real thing. The embossed knobs on the amplifier highlight all of the decorative effects that can make customers’ packaging sing. Debossed sound holes add an extra sense of realism to the guitar body.
The calendar pages were converted utilizing Domtar Cougar Opaque White Smooth 80# Text, cold foiled, and offset printed with four-color process inks, in-line with UV matte coating.
The calendar’s recyclable shipper, which features a die-cut treble clef, was designed to maintain the integrity of the piece during shipping and storage. The shipper was converted utilizing Clearwater Candesce SBS paperboard laminated to E-flute corrugated fiberboard, and offset printed with black ink, in-line with and aqueous gloss coating.
