During PACK EXPO 2018, Sun Chemical will showcase a wide range of solutions designed to help brand owners and their converting partners achieve their packaging goals while enhancing pressroom activity.

Visitors of booth 8856 will learn about Sun Chemical’s SunCure Accuflex UV, a new UV ink system for primary and secondary food packaging that is not manufactured with Bisphenol A (BPA)-based materials and meets low migration specifications. Compliant with the strictest global standards in the marketplace, SunCure Accuflex UV flexo inks meet the latest photoinitiator safe packaging guidelines.
Also on display will be SunCure Aspire UV, a new UV offset ink system developed to make sophisticated graphics look vibrant on high-end luxury folding cartons while at the same time providing the longer-term shelf appeal brand owners require. SunCure Aspire UV is designed for pharmaceutical, perfume, liquor, cosmetic and POP applications.
Sun Chemical’s newest UV and EB inks will be the focus of a presentation given by Jim Bishop, field marketing manager, titled “Simplifying the Use of Inks and Coatings for Safe Packaging Applications.” The presentation will take place Oct. 16 at 11 a.m. at the show’s Innovation Stage.
Sun Chemical will highlight a new portfolio of eco-friendly inks and coatings that are formulated with significantly higher levels of bio-renewable resin content compared to other previous market offerings. One of these inks, SunSpectro SolvaGreen flexographic and gravure solvent-based inks, feature naturally derived resins and additives and are meant for surface printing on biodegradable films.
SunVisto AquaGreen water-based inks are formulated with high levels of bio-renewable sourced resins and deliver the required critical performance attributes needed across a range of paper packaging applications.
SunInspire specialty inks and coatings can add visual aspects, from metallic inks to fluorescents and phosphorescents, glitter effects, pearlescents, and frosted effects. SunInspire tactile coatings, ranging from coarse and gritty to soft and smooth, appeal to the sense of touch. Sun Chemical’s “Innovation Guide” which features these coatings, will be on display.
Sun Chemical will also highlight its SunBar (Aerobloc) oxygen barrier coatings. In addition to extending product shelf life, SunBar (Aerobloc) barrier coatings enable the lightweighting of packaging by removing polymer layers from packaging, as well as offering improved laminate flexibilityThrough its partnership with acpo, ltd., SunBar (Aerobloc) pre-coated films are readily available for converters.
