Crown’s award-winning streak continues, having been recognized with four awards at the recent “Cans of the Year Awards” produced by The Canmaker magazine.
- In the Beverage Two-Piece category, Crown Bevcan Europe and Middle East took the Gold award for its first ‘Shazamable’ can for the Session IPA new craft beer from Island Records, brewed in the UK by Two Tribes. Seeing the connection between craft beer and music lovers, Island Records partnered with Crown to create a design and branding platform for the new craft beer that would stand out from the crowd. The decoration allows the mobile app to reliably scan the Shazam Code on the can and link the consumer with the three bespoke ‘mood’ drinking playlists that Island Records created on Spotify;
- Crown Aerosols & Specialty Packaging Europe also won a Gold award in the Decoration & Print Quality category for its limited-edition tin for Chivas Regal whisky. Crown’s design team based in Mansfield, U.K. played a key role in developing the tin’s unique round-to-square shape, which supports shelf differentiation and impact. Decorative elements, including embossing, enhance the consumers’ buying experience while also adding an extra touch of elegance to the product inside. For this project, Crown developed new tooling to deliver a shape that was not only visually appealing, but also optimized it in terms of its shelf stackability;
- In the Food Three-Piece category, Crown Food Europe won a Silver award for its revolutionary, proprietary metal Peelfit can. Designed for dry food products such as oats or instant coffee, the can was created to address demands for greater convenience, lightweighting and product protection. The Peelfit can utilizes revolutionary Direct Heat Sealing Technology (DHS) to seal a peelable foil directly to a collapsed bead within the can body. Customers then simply need to fill product through the base of the can and seam on a non-easy-open end without having to make changes to the filling line;
- Crown Beverage Packaging North America won a Silver Award in the Food Two-Piece category for its La Colombe – MiniVault coffee can using Crown’s InnoValveä technology. The MiniVault, a pre-portioned single-use can, delivers premium quality ground coffee to consumers in a container that takes convenience to the next level, while extending the product shelf life up to five times.
