INX International Ink Co. on Tuesday said it is planning a $7 million, 32,000-square-foot addition to its West Chicago research and development complex.
The construction is expected to be completed in July 2018.
INX said the new construction represents " [the] continuation of an aggressive, multi-year capital improvements program."
In 2015, INX opened a manufacturing facility in Lebanon, Ohio. The following year, the company expanded its Charlotte, N.C. metal decorating plant. Earlier this year, INX doubled the size of its Edwardsville, Kan., manufacturing plant.
Since the West Chicago R&D complex opened in 1996, overall activity and the number of chemists working on site has increased dramatically as a result of significant business growth, according to Rick Westrom, SVP of Sourcing and R&D.
“We have experienced sales growth and production in many areas, and a major reason for this expansion is our commitment to global digital efforts," he said. "A large portion is being dedicated to growing and supporting digital products across all product lines, as well as expanding our Energy Curable technologies.”
