Amcor announces an expansion of its specialty container business in the Latin American region. Plasticos Team S.A.S. (Plasticos Team) has been acquired from Team Foods Colombia S.A. (Team Foods), a leading food producer in Colombia.
Plasticos Team has one stand-alone facility located in Guachene, Colombia and annual sales of approximately US$13 million, the majority of which comes from the manufacture and supply of preforms, thin wall containers and closures to Team Foods. Sales to Team Foods will continue under an exclusive long term supply agreement and the acquired business will also continue to supply other customers in the food, beverage and home care segments.
This acquisition expands Amcor’s specialty container product offering in Latin America with the addition of new capabilities including thin wall injection moulding and in-mould labelling. Amcor currently has three rigid plastics packaging plants in Colombia, including one plant in close proximity to Guachene.
“Amcor has substantial opportunities to grow our specialty container business across the Americas,” said Ron Delia, Amcor’s managing director and CEO. “This acquisition enables Amcor to build on our position in Colombia and enhances our existing capabilities and product offering in the region.”
