Quad/Graphics has announced a multi-million-dollar investment in its award-winning Dallas plant. The investment adds new jobs, ushers in a new era of industry-leading technology in the region, and builds off of the plant’s long-standing tradition of high quality, responsive service and quick turn times.
Near-term positive impacts of the investment include:
• Digital printing capabilities — Two new digital presses enhance the plant’s data-driven solutions, including QConnect, Quad’s signature front-end solution for creating, distributing and managing brand assets. A new Fuji J Press is a world-class cornerstone digital print device offering the quality, reliability and consistency of offset printing in addition to full variable one-to-one data management. The J Press is complemented by a Kodak NexPress for short-run, quick-turn workflows. Both presses are already in operation.
• Top-of-the-line finishing equipment — Joining the plant’s arsenal of finishing equipment are a Horizon StitchLiner 5500 saddle stitching system and two fully automated Horizon perfect binders as well as a folder, a flatcutter and a shrinkwrapper.
• Expanded kitpacking and fulfillment solutions — To simplify the management and distribution of finished products, the plant is implementing Quad/Graphics’ data-driven kitting and fulfillment solutions, integrated from order entry to doorstep delivery.
“One factor that has remained constant since the plant was established is its reputation for award-winning quality printing and forward-thinking innovation,” said Tim Ohnmacht, Quad/Graphics president of marketing solutions. “Quad is proud to further that tradition with this transformation and is committed to continuing our legacy of top-quality work on behalf of America’s best-known brands. Our latest investment in this facility, along with the growth of our team and cutting-edge capabilities, makes this an exciting time for Quad and our customers as we continue to provide the most advanced and integrated end-to-end marketing solutions.”
The Quad/Graphics Dallas facility’s customers include Neiman Marcus, Toyota and J. Hilburn, as well as other industry leaders in retail, travel and hospitality, fast casual restaurants and automotive manufacturing. As the transformation moves forward and business grows, the plant will have a near-term need for sales and customer service employees, digital print technicians, account managers and press operators. More positions will likely be added over the coming year.
Quad/Graphics Dallas earlier this year earned 20 awards in the Printing Industries of America 2016 Premier Print Awards, including four “Bennys,” the annual competition’s top recognition for print excellence.
Quad/Graphics acquired Williamson Printing Company in 2012, creating QuadWilliamson. As part of the plant’s transformation into a digital hub, it has adopted the Quad/Graphics name.
