Coveris has once again secured victory at the UK Packaging Awards, taking home the prize for Flexible Pack of the Year for its innovative use of re-close technology.
Receiving the award for their re-close VFFS packs for Waitrose’s dried nuts, fruits and berries, the win marks a major triumph for Coveris’ Flexible packaging division which has recently invested in new re-close machinery which will allow them to double production capabilities of this format at their site in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire.
Addressing a wide number of consumer trends, including improved convenience and reuse, ease of opening, better storage, and reduced waste, as a result of superior pack integrity, the format offers a smarter solution for today’s functional packaging needs with judges commending the “brilliant attention to detail and excellent functionality in opening and resealing.”
On top of the win for Flexible Pack of the Year, Coveris was also shortlisted for a second entry within this category for Tesco re-close cooked meats, as well as narrowly missing out on the Label of the Year award for its Killawarra wine entry.
