Hank Malone, a well known and inspirational executive in the ink industry, died April 16 after a strong fight against cancer. He was 59 years old.
Mr. Malone was vice president of sales and marketing, North America, for Flint Group’s Narrow Web Division. He is survived by his wife, Hasmita; their son, Chris; and two brothers, Jim and Robert.
He began working with Werneke Ink in 1997 as manager of the Neenah, WI, facility. In 1999 Mr. Malone relocated to Minnesota and soon after assumed roles in sales management. As the company underwent many changes in personnel and structure, he was given additional responsibilities, taking on the management of the Southeast and West US regions while assisting with key accounts in Central America.
“If a void existed, Hank always offered to help. He influenced Flint Group in many respects, but was specifically known as a real sales expert. Hank handed over his extensive knowledge to a lot of colleagues at Flint Group and eventually put his ideas into a sales manual titled “Everything I Already Knew About Sales.” Hank was also the founder and creator of “Sales Hardball,” an innovative process to improve effectiveness of the sales force and increase revenue. His legacy will continue through this process,” said Susan Kuchta, vice president Flint Group North American Packaging and Narrow Web.
“Hank touched many lives and inspired friends, family, and his colleagues to do their best – strive for success,” Ms. Kuchta added. “He taught those who knew him to do everything with passion and fight for what they believed in. He was considered by many to be a great mentor, and was held in high regard by his customers and industry peers.”
