Leonard (Dave) Frescoln, deputy chairman of Flint Group, has announced his retirement from the company, effective the end of July 2008.
After a successful career in the aerospace industry, Mr. Frescoln joined Flint Ink in 1992 as vice president and chief financial officer. Working closely with the late H. Howard Flint II, Mr. Frescoln rose through the ranks, becoming president of Flint Ink in 2002 and vice chairman and CEO in 2005.
Shortly after Mr. Flint passed away in 2005, Flint Ink was sold to CVC Capital Partners, a global private equity firm that had previously formed XSYS Print Solutions, a combination of BASF’s ink division and ANI Printing Inks (formerly Akzo Nobel Inks). Mr. Frescoln was named CEO of Flint Group, the combined company. Most recently, Mr. Frescoln was named deputy chairman of Flint Group in 2007.
Mr. Frescoln was also active in the U.S.-based National Association of Printing Ink Manufacturers (NAPIM), serving as treasurer, vice president, and from 2005-07, as the association’s president. He was also a member of NAPIM’s Board of Directors.
Mr. Frescoln said that he enjoyed his years in the ink industry, notably the people he met at Flint and other ink companies.
“For me, the highlight of my time in the ink industry was all of the people I worked with at Flint and all the people we competed against,” Mr. Frescoln said. “Despite being competitors, we still respected each other. I can honestly say I never met a bad person in this industry.”
