Huber Engineered Materials, a business unit of J.M. Huber Corporation, has implemented a price increase for kaolin products sold to the paper industry, effective Jan. 1 or as current price agreements expire. Prices will increase on average 3 percent to 6 percent, depending on the product grade and the level of pre-increase prices in specific cases.
In addition, prices for kaolin products sold into industrial applications will increase on average 5 percent to 8 percent effective Feb. 14. Selective increases in the industrial channel have already been implemented.
According to company officials, these price changes are necessary due to continuing cost increases for energy, insurance and labor. Although Huber Engineered Materials has improved productivity, it has become necessary to implement a price increase.
