Impinj announced its new R700 RAIN RFID reader, designed to bring new advances in real-time supply chain intelligence to retailers, powered by new advances in autonomous reading.

The new platform puts significantly more processing power on the reader itself, allowing retailers to capture, analyze, and act on item-level data instantly – without relying on delayed cloud processing.

The result is faster, more autonomous supply operations – where inventory, shipments, and individual items can be tracked and verified automatically, to speed the flow of information and reduce manual touchpoints across warehouses, stores, and distribution centers.

The updated R700 RAIN RFID reader enables enterprises to:

  • Ensure accurate and reliable RAIN system performance. The new R700 features industry-leading receive sensitivity and support for advanced features that enable reading connected items farther and faster, even in the most challenging and unpredictable RF environments.
  • Leverage critical edge intelligence. The new reader has a dual-core 1 GHz 64-bit ARM A53 processor with a 64-bit Linux 6.6 operating system, as well as up to 3x more on-reader memory.
  • Simplify enterprise IoT solution development and deployments. Developer-friendly tools, multi-antenna support, rich connectivity, and seamless migration from existing R700 designs enable quick and efficient development of IoT solutions and faster time-to-market while meeting information security and reliability requirements.
