The U.S. division of Toyo Ink, the world’s third largest ink manufacturer, hired Vipul Shah as its VP of sales, Liquid Ink Division. Shah, who holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Drake University and 20-plus years of industry experience, has dedicated his entire career to the flexible packaging field. He is in fact, a second-generation industry icon: Shah’s father, Kent Shah, a partner-owner of Color Converting, retired in 2009 after a long career, which included receiving NAPIM’s Printing Ink Pioneer Award in 1994.
The appointment of Shah as VP of Toyo Ink America, LLC’s liquid ink division is the fruition of an exhaustive process to locate the ideal executive.
“Shah’s name kept coming up,” said Toyo Ink GM Masa Nagatsubo, “so we reached out to him and were instantly captivated by his general industry knowledge, breadth of experience and ability to concisely understand where we were coming from and where we wanted to be. After meeting with him for only a few minutes, we realized he was the one.”
Shah, who is now responsible for North American operations of the liquid ink division, said, “I am happy to join the Toyo team and feel we will make significant gains, soon. Not only is Toyo the world’s third largest ink manufacturer but in Asia, its flexible packaging inks enjoy tremendous success. My goal will be to integrate our U.S. domestic technologies with those of our worldwide affiliates to propel us to that next level. Sales and customer support are specialized sciences rather than a haphazard process. With its strategically located worldwide manufacturing locations and technological capabilities, Toyo is positioned to support global, national and local customers at a level at which they are not yet accustomed.”
