Sun Chemical has appointed Angus Blundell as marketing director, liquid and packaging inks, EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa), reporting to Felipe Mellado, chief marketing officer and board member, Sun Chemical.
In his new role, Mr. Blundell will drive the planning and delivery of programs to increase Sun Chemical’s sales value, market share and profitability along with identifying new market and business opportunities.
Mr. Blundell has a strong marketing background; his most recent position before joining Sun Chemical was at PPG Architectural Coatings, a major multinational coatings company, where he held the position of marketing director, Northern Europe region. In this role, he redesigned brand strategies to deliver growth in highly competitive retail and trade markets and managed a team of 50 across seven countries.
Mr. Blundell graduated from Newcastle Business School, gaining a chartered institute of marketing postgraduate diploma. His first roles were spent with United Provincial Newspapers and Field Packaging Group. In 2002, he joined Kalon Decorative Products as a category manager and was promoted rapidly. In 2006, he was appointed brand marketing controller for the Johnstone’s and Leyland Paint brands, where he built significant success in the sales of these brands through innovative marketing, leading to his first regional role and then to his most recent post in PPG.
