Ever since January 1997, when Ink World published the U.S. Ink Directory, the first and only such listing of U.S. ink manufacturers, we have always kept a close ear to the industry. Since then, we have annually updated our directory, keeping our readers up to date on the changes occurring within the printing ink industry. As a result, the U.S. Ink Directory has become one of our most popular features.
There is a lot of research that goes into our U.S. Ink Directory. Information is gathered throughout the year, and each company on the list is contacted to update addresses, products, personnel and contact information. We also keep watch for new ink companies to add to our directory, and once again we have been able to find new manufacturers.
These new companies illustrate a key point about the future of the printing ink industry. Many of these newcomers are technology-driven companies utilizing the most advanced processes to fill new needs, whether it is in the field of ink jet printing or nanotechnology. Other new companies are seeking opportunities in specific niches. In both cases, these entrepreneurs are trying their hand at creating their own success story, and I look forward to keeping up with their companies as they grow in the ensuing years.
For me, the U.S. Ink Directory is a great way to begin the new year, as I have the opportunity to speak with many of the key leaders throughout the industry to find out how business has been and where it seems to be heading. Through these conversations, I’ve learned a tremendous amount about the ink industry during the past six years, and I am extremely thankful to the printing ink industry people who help me compile the directory.
I certainly hope that our readers will learn more about the printing ink industry and ultimately benefit from this year’sdirectory.
