Clariant Corporation announced that five of its North American facilities have won the annual Responsible Care Achievement Award given by the Synthetic Organic Chemical Manufacturers Association (SOCMA).
The awards were presented at SOCMA’s annual dinner in New York City on Dec. 10. The award-winning facilities are in Leeds, Elgin and Martin, SC, Coventry, RI and Springfield, MO. The awards recognize chemical manufacturing facilities that have demonstrated a strong public commitment to environmental, health and safety performance, which is encouraged by the industry’s voluntary Responsible Care program.
The facilities were selected based on programs and outreach activities in the areas of manufacturing process safety, community awareness and emergency response, employee health and safety and pollution prevention.
“Of all the chemical plants in the nation, only 65 of these awards were presented last year. Clearly this puts us in an elite group of our peer companies,” said Kenneth L. Golder, Clariant’s Corporation president and CEO .
