The business world is an ever-changing one, and companies come and go quickly. For any company to survive and grow for a quarter-century is an achievement, based on developing a reputation for quality.
Such is the case with Triangle Ink Co., Inc., a Wallington, NJ-based screen and plastisol ink manufacturer which is focused on the textile industry. Twenty-five years ago, two brothers, Chester and Alex Bartolomei, decided to go into the plastisol ink business; Chester Bartolomei had worked in the ink industry, and he saw the potential for manufacturing plastisol and screen inks.
“Chester had been in the ink industry with Sinclair & Valentine and with Colonial, which was the first major plastisol manufacturer,” said Kevin Sweeney, national sales manager for Triangle Ink. “He and his brother wanted to go into the plastisol business, so they started Triangle Ink.”
Twenty-five years after founding the company, Chester Bartolomei remains president of Triangle Ink, which continues to thrive in the plastisol ink business primarily due to the company’s continued emphasis on both quality and service.
“Our customer service and our quality of products set us apart,” Mr. Sweeney said.
Mr. Sweeney said that strong customer service is essential for Triangle Ink, whether it’s quick turnaround time or free color matching.
“Ninety percent of our orders go out the same day,” Mr. Sweeney said. “We turn specialty batches over in 24 to 48 hours. We do color matching with no charge, which is unusual for our industry.”
In order to meet the needs of screen printers in the U.S. and worldwide, Triangle Ink has set up a distribution network of 12 U.S. and 10 international distributors, located as far away as Germany, Sweden, Guatamala, Jordan and India. The need for a stronger presence on the West Coast led the company to open a full-service distribution center in Las Vegas, NV. Gordon Ogilvie, Triangle Ink’s western regional manger, heads the distribution center.
“We moved into Las Vegas in September 1993, and it has allowed us to service the West Coast,” Mr. Sweeney said.
While customer service is extremely important, a company has to have quality products in order to succeed. Mr. Sweeney said that Triangle Ink specializes in top-of-the-line plastisol ink products.
“We make high quality products,” Mr. Sweeney said.“Phoenix White is our top product, and it is still unrivaled in the industry in its versatility and ease of application. Phoenix White is now supported by various other white inks formulated for specific applications.”
Aside from typical textile applications, Triangle Ink can formulatespecialized plastisol ink products for custom applications including stretch products, foil, 3-D effects and glow-in-the-dark.
Triangle Ink recently developed its 900 Series Color Mixing Ink System, a new customer-friendly matching system. “We have matching systems that are in high demand, which enables printers to make their own PMS systems,” Mr. Sweeney said.
Ultimately, Triangle Ink will rely on its products and service in order to grow in the coming years.
“Our industry is very competitive, and it’s a tough market” Mr. Sweeney said. “We have a very good reputation in the industry for quality products and service, and as a result, we’re certainly growing.”
