Comments: A global leader in screen and digital inks, FUJIFILM North America Corporation, Graphic Systems Division continued to add to its digital offerings during drupa 2012. In particular, the company showcased a number of new innovations in terms of presses and the corresponding high-quality inks for these presses.

Fujifilm developed a new generation of Uvijet UV inks due to the increased performance demands of wide format printers, including the need for improved adhesion performance and post-print finishing properties. Uvijet OZ is a new high performance ink designed for the new Onset S40i, and offers a higher degree of flexibility, enabling users to fold, crease, cut, drive and route printed media.

The 8-color Uvijet QN ink set was developed for the new Uvistar Pro8, Fujifilm’s latest super-wide format printer, which is designed for display POP and outdoor advertising markets. Uvijet KA is designed for the Acuity Advance HS X2 hybrid printer. Uvijet KA offers excellent adhesion to a wide range of rigid and flexible media.

LED printing has become more prominent, particularly in inkjet, and Fujifilm now offers its Uvijet LL 8-color ink system, including high opacity white and clear inks. Uvijet LL was developed for the new Acuity LED 1600.
Also at drupa 2012, Fujifilm introduced a digital inkjet web press as a technology showcase. The press uses Fujifilm’s new high performance VIVIDIA ink, developed specifically to facilitate superb image quality.

VIVIDIA ink allows high-density images to be printed at high speed, with less ink transfer from sheet to sheet, with high quality reproduction possible even on thin paper. A variety of ink types, including both pigment and dye-based inks, have been developed for use with this press.

Fujifilm also offers its Color+ aftermarket inkjet inks, which are designed to provide optimal performance on a wide variety of inkjet printers from many of the leading suppliers. Color+ utilizes Fujifilm’s proprietary MicroV fine pigment dispersion technology, which greatly reduces printhead clogging while offering stronger, brighter colors.
