The Queen’s Award for Enterprise, one of the most prestigious honors that a UK business can earn, recognizes companies for outstanding business achievement in the fields of International Trade, Innovation and Sustainable Development. In 2015, approximately 140 Queen’s Awards were announced.
The Queen’s Award recipients earn an invitation to a special reception at Buckingham Palace, and can use The Queen’s Award Emblem in advertising, marketing and on packaging for a period of five years.
Pulse Roll Label Products Ltd., Bristol, UK, a narrow web ink specialist, is one of the recipients of this year’s award for International Trade. It is an impressive honor for the 14-year-old company.
“We are absolutely delighted to receive this prestigious award,” said Gary Seward, managing director, Pulse Roll Label Products, who attended the winners’ reception at Buckingham Pal ace on July 14. “This success reflects the hard work and commitment from all our employees, combined with the on-going support from our valued customers, partners, suppliers and other industry associates located all over the world.”
The award for International Trade recognizes outstanding growth in overseas earnings over a period of three years. Founded in 2001, Pulse Roll Label Products has enjoyed significant growth as a manufacturer of UV and water-based inks and varnishes used globally by narrow web printers and label producers for flexo, screen and digital applications, with products now sold in more than 50 countries.
“Our application for the Queen’s Award for Enterprise for 2015 was made following an extremely successful period of growth in our international business covering the three-year period commencing April 2011,” said Sarah Harriman, marketing and communications manager at Pulse Roll Label Products. “The International Trade award received was in recognition of this outstanding growth in overseas earnings and signifies a tremendous achievement for Pulse Roll Label Products.”
Pulse Roll Label Products is focused solely on servicing and supporting the global narrow web label printing industry. Harriman said that its customers range from large corporations to small privately-owned companies that print packaging and labels for well-known consumer brands across a number of market segments, including food and beverages, household, health, personal care and beauty products.
“This dedicated approach means that we can concentrate on our mission to develop innovative narrow web ink and varnish products and solutions for our designated market, and our customers benefit from our significant technical knowledge and expertise in this specific sector,” Harriman noted.
Pulse Roll Label Products’ overseas customers are supported predominately through an extensive network of carefully selected partners and distributors, who provide supply as well as full technical service.
“A key focus on customer service, an understanding of changing customers’ needs, as well as being up to date with complex industry requirements, means that we can compete effectively in what is currently a fairly challenging marketplace,” she added. “As an independent ink manufacturer, we also enjoy a high degree of flexibility, which allows us to make quick business decisions, satisfying the different needs of our customers.”
The company has invested heavily over the past few years in attracting skilled and talented people, employing new technology and purchasing specialized equipment to aid its business expansion and to build a solid platform for sustainable growth.
“In our relatively short 14-year history, the company has achieved continued year-on-year growth, with outstanding results,” Harriman said. “Recent expansion of our R&D laboratory, installation of the latest milling equipment and new appointments earlier this year including Graham Green, who joined us in a senior technical role, all reflect the company’s continued growth.”
Harriman said that the future looks bright for Pulse Roll Label Products.
“We are fast becoming a key player in both the UK and international market, and believe that today we are the ink partner of choice for many label printers because of our ability to develop and maintain strong relationships which, combined with our independence, specialized industry expertise and clear focus on narrow web, benefits many of our customers,” Harriman said.
“Our continued investment, a clear target market and defined strategic direction, coupled with the accolade of winning a Queen’s Award for International Trade in 2015, means we are now in an even stronger position to target further growth in our chosen market and achieve further success both at home and abroad,” Harriman concluded.
