Job Description:
Experience: 10+ years polymer resin chemist in the resins and/or coatings industry. MS or PhD a plus, but not required. A seasoned, solid bench chemist works great.
Broadly experienced in synthesizing polymers of various kinds in both water and solvent for use in coatings, adhesives and inks. Experience in formulating alkyds, polyesters, vinyl alkyds, chain extended polyurethanes, 2k polyester polyurethane coating resins. Broad knowledge in solvent and water based, high solids, low-VOC systems.
USPA also has a line of ink resins so experience in ink resins would be beneficial as well.
Knowledge of general analytical testing to monitor polymers and resins, experienced with coating evaluation and testing procedures for clear and pigmented systems.
Able to work in a team and help manage a resin synthesis, formulating, and evaluation lab with complete responsibility for resin development, pilot and plant scale-up and close cooperation with manufacturing facility and staff. Must have the interpersonal skills to complement sales efforts in the field with technical peers.
