Job Description:
This position will be in the Specialty Products ink division, reporting to the Quality Coordinator in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Specialty Products division provides printing inks, printing plates, and related services to flexographic packaging printers, both within International Paper and to outside customers. The In-Plant Ink Manager will provide on-site ink manufacturing and technical service for Tucker Preprint, which manufactures high quality pre-printed liner for the corrugated packaging industry.
Key Functions: The In-Plant Ink Manager’s function is to perform all technical, manufacturing, and reporting tasks pertaining to ink and printing as required by the customer (Tucker Preprint). The ink technician works inside the customer’s plant, solely for that customer’s ink technical needs. The in-plant will also help the customer with press related issues, maximizing efficiencies related to ink usage or press set up, cost reduction measures, or other issues as the customer requires. Specific key functions are: Color matching and re-matching, blending ink batches for print jobs, press side technical assistance (toning colors, adjusting ink to improve print quality, assisting with Customer Approvals, etc.), maintaining customer ink inventory, re-working old ink, filing ink usage reports and other reports as necessary, attend production meetings and other customer meetings as required, any other technical issues needed by customer, such as ink training, ink improvements, cost reductions, etc.
Responsibilities:
Requirements: High School diploma or equivalency required. A minimum of five years experience with flexographic printing inks or as an In-Plant Manager required. Knowledge of and previous experience with ink color matching and press side trouble shooting is required, and experience in pre-printed liner applications is highly desirable.
