We’re looking for a Product Development Chemist to provide research and product development support, contributing to delivering products from the concept phase to commercialization for Landscape Coatings.

Your responsibilities would also include:

Manage and prioritize multiple assigned projects simultaneously through effective communication with R&D Manager to meet the overall business needs.

Listen and communicate effectively with Sales, New Product Development and Operations staff to improve performance of existing products, development of new products, and solve problems related to product formula in a timely manner.

Expand the use of our current technologies into new growth areas.

Responsible for investigating new product technologies and exploratory development in core colorant business.

Take technical leadership in projects to follow through from concept of project to commercialization of product within the Stage Gate Process.

Recommend and justify the use of new equipment in R&D and Operations to solve problems.

Thoroughly document in-process and completed work in well-written reports, and communicate results to others when needed in a timely manner.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Master’s Degree with 0+ years of experience - OR- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry with 3+ years of experience.

Previous work experience in commercial product development; preferably working with pigments (organic and inorganic), dyes, colorants, coatings, paint, coatings and/or ink industries.

Master’s Degree with 4+ years of experience - OR- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry with 7+ years of experience.

Strong background in pigment dispersion and/or colorants chemistry & equipment with knowledge of color theory and techniques for color development.

Experience with characterization & optimization of dispersion by particle size distribution, viscosity, pH, solids and color strength.

Experience launching new products (Bench to scale-up).
