The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for developing contacts with established and prospective customers within an assigned territory for purposes of promoting and selling the products, services and capabilities of Colorcon. This person is ultimately responsible for achieving sales objectives for the territory, division, and the company.
Responsibilities & Duties
Primary responsibility of the position is to grow annual sales and profit margin targets.
• Manage sales territory, which includes identifying prospective customers, communicating and coordinating customer visits and closing projects with customers.
• Coordinate and manage customer visits by arranging attendance for Colorcon personnel when appropriate and coordinating customer travel and support activities.
• Monitor all customer activity from each No-Tox department as it relates to their territory. Includes communicating customer needs and ensuring proper transfer of information and timely completion of projects that will result in sales of Colorcon products.
• Coordinate technical management of customer projects with Technical Services department.
• Prioritize customer projects within territory and communicate impact and/or changes to affected customers.
• Maintain detailed knowledge of each customer within territory, which includes but may not be limited to their products, competing products, company information, market information, organizational structure, and key personnel.
• High level of self-motivation and strong presentation skills.
• Prepare for and attend sales meetings and industry meetings.
• Communicate customer information and accurate sales forecast information to Colorcon via Call Reports, Project Database, Call Plans, Expense Reports, Itineraries, Customer Information Requests, and Customer Letters.
Desired Skills and Expertise
• B.S. in a scientific discipline (Chemistry) preferred.
• Sales or Technical experience preferably related to the printing ink or chemical industry.
• Excellent project management and communication skills in order to effectively manage customer and inter-company activities that will result in sales.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, 60% overnight travel, periodic weekend and evening work.
• High level of self-motivation and strong presentation skills.
