Wacker Chemie AG, Munich, Germany, announced the appointment of Scott Borst as president of Wacker Polymer Systems, L.P. He succeeds Christian Gimber, who has been assigned as head of the company’s Wacker India operation.
Mr. Borst is responsible for the overall management of Wacker Polymer Systems, L.P.’s North American operations, including sales, marketing, technical service, strategic business planning and supply chain services. He also has global responsibility for the company’s gum-base resin business. He will continue to be headquartered at the company’s NAFTA facility located in Adrian, MI.
Mr. Borst has been with Wacker since 2003, formerly as business director for the Wacker Silicones building and coatings business team.
Mr. Borst began his professional career in 1982 as marketing services coordinator with UOP, Inc. He held increasingly responsible sales, marketing and general management positions with such companies as DeSoto, Inc., and Angus Chemical Company. In 1999, he was named by McWhorter Industries, Inc., to the post of vice president, marketing and strategic planning. McWhorter later was acquired by Eastman Chemical Company, which appointed Mr. Borst business director, coatings business. He served in that position from 2001-03, when he joined Wacker Chemical Corporation.
Mr. Borst holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Indiana University and an MBA degree from Indiana State University. Active in various industry associations, he is a member of the National Paint and Coatings Association and a past board member of the association’s Commercial Development and Marketing Association.
