Mr. Daciuk spent several years working with the gravure printing market, first at GRI and then at Hell Graphic Systems. He continued in the graphic arts industry at several different corporations.
Richard “Dick” Drong, marketing manager, sheetfed offset inks in North America, Sun Chemical Corporation, Northlake, IL, received the 2003 Technical Leadership Award from the National Association for Printing Leadership (NAPL).
“The graphic arts industry has benefited greatly from Dick’s expertise in all aspects of ink technology and his commitment to sharing that expertise to advance the industry,” Joseph P. Truncale, NAPL president and CEO, said. “He personifies the spirit of the Technical Leadership Award and we are very happy to name him as our 2003 recipient.”
The award recognizes Mr. Drong’s expertise in both web offset heatset publication inks and sheetfed offset ink systems for the commercial and folding carton markets and his proficiency in waterless ink technology. He is also being honored for broadening the knowledge and use of advanced, ecologically friendly ink systems through his contributions to numerous industry publications, and as a speaker at major industry shows and conferences, including the GATF/NAPL Sheetfed Pressroom Conference. In addition, he has served as president of the Label Packaging Suppliers Council and the Chicago Printing Ink Production Club, and supported various activities of NAPL and the Chicago Litho Club.
Mr. Drong’s career with Sun Chemical Corporation began more than 40 years ago with a high school technical training program. He advanced through various positions, including manager of the company’s national paste ink service laboratory, and, most recently, marketing manager, sheetfed offset inks in North America.
