Toyo Ink America, LLC announced that John Copeland has been promoted to president from his current position as executive vice president/COO. The appointment was effective July 1, 2007, following approval at the annual Toyo Ink America board meeting.
Mr. Copeland will assume the duties from Fusao Ito, who will continue as director of the board for the company. He will continue to oversee the day-to-day operations of the company, but will also provide critical leadership in improving overall team management and strategic planning. In his new role as president, Mr. Copeland aims to build a stronger brand identity and increase market exposure of its products as a key strategy for raising Toyo Ink’s presence in North America.
“Founded in Japan, Toyo Ink has been around for 100 years and operated in the U.S. market for more than 30. Over time, we’ve earned a reputation for quality, innovation and the highest level of customer service,” said Mr. Copeland. “To further solidify our growing position in North America, it is important we continue to draw on this reputation and build on our strengths as a technology and world market leader.”
Mr. Copeland brings nearly 30 years experience in the printing industry to his new position at the helm of Toyo Ink America. He joined the company in 2003 as vice president of operations and was promoted to executive vice president/COO in January 2006.
Prior to joining Toyo Ink, Mr. Copeland served in a variety of posts with Handschy Industries in Chicago for nearly 11 years, the most recent of which was technical director of paste inks. He is a graduate of Sinclair College, Dayton, OH, with a graphic arts technology degree.
