Sun Chemical has appointed Loïc de Surville to head its France and Benelux Strategic Business Unit.
As managing director, Mr. de Surville, who is based in Paris, will be responsible for its financial performance and management, as well as developing the strategic direction of Sun Chemical’s multi-product business lines in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and North Africa. These include inks, consumables and related products and services for the publication, packaging, commercial, industrial and digital markets.
Mr. de Surville joins Sun Chemical after 18 years with Rohm and Haas, where he had led several business units, delivering top-line growth and implementing strategic development plans in more than 20 market segments.
His aim is to drive further enhancements to the Sun Chemical strategic business unit in a challenging market. This will be achieved through the introduction of new technologies and applications, products and services, improving productivity and implementing price increases to offset the sharp rise in the cost of raw materials.
“I am very proud to join the global leader in the inks and related products market, and really look forward to strengthening Sun Chemical’s leadership position,” Mr. de Surville said. “This is a company that has a worldwide reputation for innovation, quality, reliability and success by delivering global practices and expertise locally. It helps that there is already a great team in the region.”
He will report to David Meldram, president, Sun Chemical Europe, who said, “Loïc’s appointment represents a great opportunity to strengthen the presence of Sun Chemical products to the marketplace within these countries. He has solid experience in the specialty chemical industry, characterized by the successful implementation of development plans within numerous markets and the delivery of top-line growth. These attributes ensure his appointment is a vital building block in developing our customer-focused strategy.”
