INX International Ink Co. will be highlighting its INXFlex 2000 UV flexo inks and SpH stable inks at the CMM (Converting Machinery/ Materials) International Conference and Exposition 2005.
INXFlex UV inks are formulated to provide exceptional flow, color consistency and transfer properties on a wide range of substrates. These advanced-generation inks help users make the most of high-speed UV production on narrow web tag and label, folding carton, single serve and specialty applications as well as combination printing.
“More runtime and less downtime is a key issue,” said Gale Waller, INX UV/EB product manager. “The longer a press keeps running, the better the margins. With INXFlex 2000, we see presses run all day long – and all press users do is add ink.”
In addition to INXFlex 2000, INX will be showcasing its super-stable SpH inks, a new technology in pH stability designed to drastically reduce the need to constantly monitor and adjust pH levels in water-based inks while continuing to deliver top line-performance for corrugated packaging applications. These super-stable SpH inks provide labor savings, reduce costly downtime, boost output quality and ease environmental concerns.
“Until now, even with so-called ‘stable pH’ inks, maintaining a relatively high pH within a narrow pH window was critical to ink condition and performance. As pH dropped, ink would body up and run dirty,” said Joe Kelly, vice president/technical director of INX’s liquid ink division. “Press crews monitored and constantly adjusted pH by adding ammonia or VOC-heavy refresheners, which can reduce color density and cause other problems. Using new technology, these SpH inks start with a lower pH and drop very slowly, running cleaner, longer and requiring virtually no pH-related press crew attention. After all, most viscosity gain in water inks is pH related. And importantly, these inks eliminate the need to add slow amine solutions with high VOC content.”
