Flint Ink has created a new global sheetfed division to deliver world-class ArrowStar products for sheetfed commercial and package printing applications worldwide.
The ArrowStar Ink System is formulated to deliver robust, consistent performance on any sheetfed application anywhere in the world. Now, printers everywhere have access to the full line of ArrowStar products, proven to meet virtually all sheetfed needs in any pressroom.
“The creation of a global sheetfed division represents the next important step in our goal of becoming a world class supplier to our customers,” said Flint Ink president Dave Frescoln. “By streamlining our global logistics process and by building upon the proven qualities of ArrowStar sheetfed inks, we expect to greatly strengthen our position as the favored ink supplier of both commercial and packaging sheetfed printers.”
“The ArrowStar line has been used by sheetfed printers in Europe and in parts of Asia for some time, with proven high-quality results across a wide range of applications, substrates and presses,” said Doug Aldred, vice president, global sheetfed division, Flint Ink. “We recently introduced the first three formulations of the ArrowStar line to North American printers with good success. Now, formal globalization means that printers around the world will have full access to a complete ink system that offers new opportunities to grow business in the commercial and packaging sheetfed printing markets.”
Mr. Aldred oversaw the development of the ArrowStar Ink System. “It was time to evaluate our products in light of a globalized industry,” he said. “Printers today need to maximize their productivity. One way to do that is to use more robust ink formulations that provide reliable, consistent performance across a wide range of applications and under a wide range of conditions. The ArrowStar Ink System does exactly that.”
According to Mr. Aldred, a select group of chemists, ink formulators and printing experts conducted extensive lab and field testing programs in an effort to produce best-in-class formulations. The result was one mineral oil-based technology and one vegetable oil-based technology.
“From these two technologies have come additional ink series to address more specific application needs of the market, such as low odor and low tack. Today, the ArrowStar range comprises both standard and specialty sets,” said Mr. Aldred.
There is also a blending set based on the original formulations. “The StarBase blending system is coupled with a global color database that allows transfer of spectral data around the globe,” said Mr. Aldred. “This single system ensures global customers of superior performance and color consistency whether they are printing in Madrid, Moscow, Melbourne, or Milwaukee.”
