With the shipment of the 50th DuPont Artistri 2020 fully integrated, production capable, on-demand digital textile printer, DuPont and Toshin-Kogyo, Ltd. are redefining the textile printing market.
“We are extremely pleased with the breakthrough market recognition and success of the DuPont Artistri system,” said Kathleen Hall, global business director, DuPont Digital Printing Systems. “The shipment of our 50th printer is the first of many milestones. With installations in Japan, Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia and North America, our customers are truly serving the global market for printed textiles.”
DuPont Artistri digital printing for textiles consists of three components: the DuPont Artistri 2020 printer, DuPont Artistri ink and DuPont Artistri software. Printing can be done on a wide variety of fabrics, including silk, polyester, wool, cotton and nylon/Lycra for uses ranging from silk accessories to swimwear, apparel and home furnishings.
The Artistri 2020 enables sample, strike-off and short-run digital production printing of fabrics up to 1.8 meters wide. Additionally, the Artistri 2020 sets a new industry standard for print speed, offering several print modes with speeds exceeding 50 square meters per hour to allow fast production of digital designs.
DuPont Artistri ink meets industry standard fastness requirements and is available in a wide array of colors covering the four major textile chemistries: acid dye, reactive dye, disperse dye and pigment ink.
The printer itself was designed and built by Toshin-Kogyo Co. Ltd. based on a specification developed by DuPont to meet the needs of the textile printing market.
“The marriage of Toshin-Kogyo’s experience and expertise in the design of textile printing equipment with DuPont’s leadership position in chemistry and ink jet technology has allowed the companies to cooperatively develop a uniquely capable and robust system,” said Shiro Ichinose, president of Toshin-Kogyo.
While DuPont and Toshin celebrate this milestone for the DuPont Artistri 2020 printer, both companies agree this is only the beginning. “We believe we will revolutionize and re-energize the textile printing industry,” said Rick Baird, vice president, DuPont Ink Jet. “Building on the success of our initial launch and on the momentum of the upcoming introduction of our pigment system later this month, we anticipate a bright future for DuPont Artistri.”
