Xaar and SunJet have announced the further roll-out of its flexible UV ink, the Crystal UFX series, for use in Xaar’s XJ126 printhead family.
Launched at Ipex 2002 and previously available only to packaging and industrial printers using Xaar’s XJ500 printhead, the Crystal UFX ink series has now been approved for use with Xaar’s XJ126 printheads. This move allows the inks to be expanded into other printing markets – chiefly the graphics printing sector – as the XJ126 printhead is particularly well suited to scanning applications, being light in weight with a fast print speed, giving print coverage of up to 38m2 per hour.
The flexible nature of the UV cure ink, achieved through its unique ink formulation including high-performance pigments, means that once cured, the print can be rolled or folded without fear of ink peel or cracking.
The ink’s excellent adhesion properties make it suited for printing onto a range of substrates such as PVC and other outdoor display materials. Its ultra-fast curing on exposure to UV light makes it ideal for reel to reel machines, the standard tool of graphic arts print providers, according to the companies.
The Crystal UFX ink range is available in CMYK and additional colors of light cyan, light magenta, orange and green are currently in development.
Jill Woods, Xaar’s inks and media product manager said, “We see this flexible ink becoming an industry-leading product in the graphics printing market as our OEM customers continue to look for ways to differentiate themselves from their competitors.”
Peter Walshe, business development manager for SunJet, added, “We are very pleased to see the approval of the Crystal UFX family of inks extended to the XJ126 printhead. Crystal UFX inks were developed with exactly the same markets in mind as the XJ126: the two products will make an ideal combination for the graphics printing sector.”
