The reengineering of INX International has transformed the company from a decentralized geographical oriented company to a centralized company based upon product lines.
“In 2001, our standardization and centralization initiatives have helped us effectively produce more high-quality, standard products across North America,” said Rick Clendenning, president of INX. “Today the company is flexible, cost effective and aligned with our customers’ needs. We are an industry leader offering a full line of ink and coating technology.”
The company is now organized in three divisions: offset ink, liquid ink and metal deco ink. Each division consists of dedicated sales and marketing, research and development, technical service, and production resources. The new approach allows for the concentration of expertise on a product line level while field operations allows for the delivery of products and service on a personal level, according to the company.
INX has also centralized its marketing support resources and initiated a new strategic marketing approach. “With an economic blend of planning, marketing, sales and product development we are able to direct our resources to the market segments we align to,” said Bryce Kristo, vice president of business development. “This provides for greater focus on our customers’ needs, creating added value.”
As a result of the restructuring, together with the efforts and expertise of the R & D and divisional technical teams, INX has been able to improve and develop a number of products, according to the company. For its sheetfed customers, INX developed Ecopure, a new high performance process system which carries the American Soybean seal, yet out performs conventional inks; UVXcel High Performance, 100 percent UV cured process colors and blending system; UNICure UV hybrid ink for paper, process colors and blending system; UNICure UV hybrid ink for plastic substrates, process colors and blending systems; and INXFresh sheetfed blending systems and UV process inks.
On the coatings side, INX has developed the new INXCure Prostamp UV cured coating which is designed for foil stamping and secondary processing steps, and the new INXCure ProGloss UV cured coating with special COF control for corrugated printing.
For flexo, there is the INXFlex UV base system and process colors for tag and label printing, FlexLam solvent-based laminating ink, and INX ProStar II System, a high-quality, water-based process printing ink.
For metal decorating, INX developed AP Lo VOC system for 2-piece metal decorating, and for the web offset printer, ColorTrac LG which offers superior drying and printing characteristics on the high speed presses.
At a time when the economy has slowed down and competition within the printing ink industry is fierce, the recent reorganization of INX has allowed the company to better focus on their customers and increase efficiency.
