Evonik presented new energy curing capabilities during RadTech 2018. Among the products the company highlighter were a pair of resins, Variplus 5K and AddBond LTH; two additives, TEGO Rad 2650 and TEGO Rad 2800; and ACEMATT 3600.
TEGO VariPlus SK is a polyol resin designed to improve gloss, hardness, adhesion, pigment wetting and resistance against chemicals and corrosion of solventborne coatings and inks. TEGO AddBond LTH is a hard polyester resin that improves adhesion of solventborne or radiation-curing coatings.
TEGO Rad 265 is a radically crosslinkable release additive designed for radiation curable offset and silk screen inks as well as overprint varnishes. It improves scratch and marker resistance. TEGO Rad 2800 has pronounced silicone character, the company noted. Both are ideal for pigmented formulations.
ACEMATT 3600 is a fine-grained polymer-treated precipitated silica, and is designed for 100% radically curing UV coatings. It has a low thickening effect, high chemical resistance and good transparency, Evonik reports.
