Siegwerk Druckfarben AG & Co. KGaA has signed a contract to purchase family-owned Tupahue Tintas, one of the Brazilian market leader for flexo and gravure printing inks and varnishes located in Diadema (São Paulo).
With this acquisition, Siegwerk expands its presence in the Latin American region and further strengthens its ability to better serve specific local market demands. Since its foundation in 1989, Tupahue Tintas offers innovative ink solutions especially designed for serving the needs of packaging converters in the local market.
“With the purchase of Tupahue Tintas, we add a well established ink provider with high quality products for packaging applications to the Siegwerk family,” said Andrea Serturini, president and head of LATAM region at Siegwerk. “You can see a growing demand for customized applications and high-end packaging in Latin America. When it comes to packaging, flexo and gravure solvent-based are still the major printing processes used in the region.
“Combining now Tupahue’s and our know-how and technology in these fields adds great value to our offering for the local markets,” added Serturini.
Tupahue Tintas’ portfolio covers flexo and gravure printing inks and varnishes suitable for a wide range of substrates like LDPE, HDPE, BOPP, PP, polyolefin, polyester, aluminium, metallized films and others.
Siegwerk’s purchase offer includes the transfer of all technical expertise and product portfolio as well as the manufacturing equipment related to Tupahue’s headquarters in Diadema. Both companies will work closely together to ensure a smooth integration of the business without any interference for current customers of both companies.
“Investments in the emerging markets like Latin America or Asia are a fundamental pillar of our growth strategy,” said Herbert Forker, CEO at Siegwerk. “Getting closer to customers and offering our solutions and services at the same high quality worldwide is one of our strategic goals. We will especially continue investing in resources supporting all different segments of the packaging market.”
Going forward, Siegwerk will continue investing in infrastructures and the local development of competences all with the focus on strengthening its local market positions and thereby expanding its offering for the packaging market worldwide.
The parties have agreed not to disclose any financial details related to the acquisition.
