On the first day of Labelexpo Europe 2017, Kodak – along with clients, industry partners and members of the media – celebrated the company's new Flexo HUB in Zaventem, Belgium.
With the Flexo HUB, Kodak has created a unique facility that gives its vision for technological progress and continued expansion of the flexographic process in packaging production a dynamic framework. As an interactive platform, the Kodak Flexo HUB will promote cooperation between Kodak, flexo printers, trade shops, brand owners, technology suppliers and industry associations. In addition to presenting innovative flexo solutions from Kodak, a key role of the new center is to highlight a host of real-life packaging projects in which Kodak technology makes the crucial difference.
The clear layout of the Flexo HUB, which is reminiscent of an industrial loft, generates an inspiring environment for creative activities and also communicates the identity of Kodak as a brand both rich in tradition and strongly oriented to the future. The design concept of the Kodak Flexo HUB was drawn up by the Milan-based architect and designer, Francesco Lucchese (Lucchesedesign), and is reflected in the visuals of Kodak's Labelexpo booth.
"This innovative facility will help further strengthen the position of flexo in the packaging sector and unlock the full potential of this printing process," said Chris Payne, president of the Flexographic Packaging Division and VP of Kodak. "Our existing clients, prospective buyers and industry partners in the EAMER market now have a central port of call where they can come together with Kodak to push the boundaries of flexo printing."
"We welcome the fact that Kodak has created a forum at which it can not only present its own technology, but also encourage an expert dialog between everyone involved in the packaging value chain with the aim of promoting flexo printing," said Bernhard Stradner, president of the DFTA Flexodruck-Fachverband (German Flexographic Technical Association) and director, Sales Worldwide at flexo press manufacturer Allstein GmbH.
The Kodak Flexo HUB gives visitors an opportunity to experience the KODAK FLEXCEL NX System in extensive demonstrations, take part in technical training seminars or have KODAK FLEXCEL NX Plates made in line with their requirements so that they can conduct their own printing tests. Additonally, Kodak also has plans to hold special events and seminars on packaging topics at the Flexo HUB in the future.
