Acme-Hardesty, a division of Jacob Stern & Sons, has been appointed by Solvay, a leading global supplier of amines, as the exclusive distributor of Solvay’s Fentamine polyurethane catalyst line in North America. The agreement makes Solvay polyurethane amine catalysts, produced in Zhangjiagang, China, available to the US market.
Amine catalysts are widely used in the production of polyurethane foam to control and balance the polyurethane reaction. They are primarily used for the blowing reaction in polyurethane foam formation, but also contribute to the gelling reaction in many cases.
“Our line of amine catalysts at Solvay supports many polyurethane applications, including those in the bedding, furniture, automotive, insulation and refrigeration industries,” said Ning Chen, business director, Industrial and Amines, Novecare. “Acme-Hardesty has an extensive and long-term presence in the polyurethane market, so the company is a great fit for distributing our products in North America.”
