During Andina-Pack 2015, Sun Chemical will introduce a wide range of flexible packaging solutions that enhance pressroom efficiency, meet sustainability and regulatory requirements, produce quality prints at high speeds, and help packaging stand out on the shelf.

Visitors will be introduced to the SunLam family of lamination adhesives, which consists of water-based, solvent-free and solvent-based products designed to meet the needs of all major packaging applications, including lamination, aromatic retort and film/food packages.
With local inventories available everywhere in Latin America along with strong local customer technical service, SunLam has been formulated to complement Sun Chemical’s wide range of lamination inks in the most demanding environments and applications. SunLam lamination adhesives deliver superior adhesion, a fast curing combination of adhesive and hardener to reduce the delay between lamination, slitting and shipping, improved resistance to strongly acidic foods and liquids, suitability for use with both flexographic and rotogravure print processes, and high bond strengths even after package sterilization or boiling.
Converters can also use a SunLam lamination adhesive with oxygen barrier properties to lightweight packaging by removing a film layer from the package while still maintaining the protective functionality required to preserve the contents and avoid migration.
Sun Chemical will showcase its innovative SunBar Barrier Coatings. Designed to enable lightweighting of packaging by removing EVOH polymer layers from packaging, as well as offering improved laminate flexibility, SunBar barrier coatings offer a smooth, homogenous, pinhole-free layer that is easily overprinted with inks and can be laminated to a variety of secondary films.
Designed to help prevent inks from migrating into food, pharmaceutical, and tobacco products and meet the world’s strictest compliance measures, Sun Chemical’s SunPak LMQ products help address the risk brand owners face in food and pharmaceutical packaging. SunPak LMQ inks exhibit low odor, off-flavor and migration levels

Sun Chemical will also display its SunLase™ laser marking solutions, a coating that enables brand owners to add information to both secondary and primary packaging information after the filling and closure of the pack, whether for practical supply chain purposes or as a late stage pack differentiator.
The SunLase solution prints a transparent or tinted coating onto a packaging substrate during the printing process. After the packaging has been sealed, variable coding graphic information, such as barcodes, QR codes and “Use By” dates or branding, can be created using a low power CO2 or fiber laser.
Label and narrow web printers visiting the booth will be introduced to the SolarFlex Nova SL range of UV flexo inks. Intended for the printing of labels, tags, sleeves, tickets and other applications, SolarFlex Nova SL features flow optimization for press performance, low odor for sensitive applications, fast curing for higher press speeds and a color strength that has been increased for finer anilox choices. Formulated without any VOCs and compliant with the most stringent regulations that comply with the requirements of the most globally recognized brand owners, the SolarFlex Nova SL range can increase color gamut and/or lower ink consumption.
