Bemis Company, Inc. has been recognized with two Global Packaging Leadership Awards from the Packaging Consortium (PAC), receiving a gold award for a textured print hot dog package and a silver award for the AstroPaq wine and spirit pouch in the flexible packaging category.
The hot dog package that utilizes textured print to resemble an artisan paperboard appearance is capturing the attention of consumers in the grocery store aisles. This approach eliminates the need for additional boxes or secondary packaging. With the look and feel of handcrafted paper, this premium hot dog package uniquely engages the consumer.
The AstroPaq pouch is a breakthrough for the wine and spirits industry, meeting the consumer need for lightweight, portable adult beverage packaging. The new package format allows for consumers to cleanly dispense beverages. Compared to glass, this pouch has an 80% smaller carbon footprint over the package life cycle.
“Bemis has a fantastic eye for emerging technologies,” says Dave Moynihan, president of AstraPouch North America. “We are at the forefront of alternative wine and spirits packaging by partnering with Bemis and have been able to move quickly with the development of this market.”
