EFI announced that Canon U.S.A., Inc. will add new self-serve management capabilities in customer print environments, offering the EFI Self-Serve M500 Copy and Print Station and EFI Self-Serve AdminCentral with many Canon imageRUNNER and imageRUNNER ADVANCE systems.
“Now, Canon imageRUNNER and imageRUNNER ADVANCE users can have even more functionality using EFI’s advanced, secure solutions,” said Junichi Yoshitake, SVP and GM, Business Imaging Solutions Group, Canon U.S.A., Inc. “Today’s announcement will also create new opportunities for Canon dealers who service higher education and other markets that need robust, self-serve print and copy applications.”
“As more people use tablets, smartphones and cloud services, hotels, universities and retail stores need print and copy solutions that accommodate the evolving needs of their guests, students or customers,” said Toby Weiss, SVP and GM, EFI Fiery. “The EFI M500 Self-Serve Print and Copy Station provides a private, secure and convenient means of copying as well as printing from multiple sources with an easy, regulatory compliant payment system, and Canon U.S.A.’s customer base in these markets will be able to take advantage of these capabilities for improved customer service and additional revenue streams.”
The EFI M500 is compliant with the Payment Application Data Security Standard (PA-DSS), and is one of the first applications to be validated under version 3.0 of the standard.
Using a PA-DSS validated payment application is a vital part of a merchant’s PCI compliance. “Coupling a robust and secure payment system with Canon imageRUNNER and imageRUNNER ADVANCE systems is an essential element of building a successful business model around self-serve printing and copying in today’s competitive marketplace,” Weiss added.
EFI’s M500 Self-Serve Copy and Print Station allows copying or printing of anything from PDF and Word documents to images and PowerPoint presentations from a USB drive; mobile phone; tablet; laptop; email; cloud-based services like EFI PrintMe, Dropbox, Microsoft OneDrive and Google Drive. Users can securely pay for their prints with credit, cash and campus cards.
