The inaugural Conference of the Africa Packaging Roadshow 2014 initiated by BOBST, Switzerland, together with world-leading industry partners was held at the Sheraton Hotel in Lagos, Nigeria, on Feb. 11-12, 2014. The event proved a major success enjoyed by more than a hundred delegates from the Nigerian packaging industry.
The works of the two-day conference focused on the latest innovations in flexible and carton packaging solutions along the packaging supply chain, from raw materials to finished products. The key trends that impact and shape the growth of the packaging industry were highlighted by speakers from BOBST Product Lines and partners belonging to world-leading equipment and consumables manufacturing companies.
Recognizing regional drivers for growth, speakers from Coim, Daetwyler Graphics and Daetwyler SwissTec, Euroink and Inci-Flex, Gascogne Laminates, Heinzel-Sales, KBA, Kodak, Lemo Maschinenbau, Rossini and Atlas Converting spoke about their value creating solutions aimed at meeting all market needs and supporting Nigerian converters drive towards productivity, quality, performance and competitive advantage.
The conference guest speaker from Nestlé CWA completed the industry overview from the brand owners perspective with a insightful about packaging needs and trends in the West Africa region.
“We have important customers in Nigeria with a number of BOBST gravure printing, laminating and metallizing machine installations for converting flexible materials” said Eric Pavone, business director of Business Unit Web-fed, Bobst Mex. “Nigeria is a very dynamic market with flexible packaging demand growth consistently averaging 12% over the past few years, so we are obviously very pleased with the response from the local industry to our initiative and the level of participation”.
