Sun Chemical inks were used by ASL Print FX, an Ontario-based flexo label printer, to create labels that won the first ever World Label Association’s “Best of the Best” award at the Global Label Awards in Brussels.

Before being named the “Best of the Best” award winner in the flexo category, ASL Print FX was also honored with the World Label Award in the flexo category for its Rennie Estate Winery label by the Tag and Label Manufactures Institute (TLMI) and World Label Association. ASL Print FX’s entry beat out approximately 15,000 entrants from around the world and marks the third consecutive year the printer has been the recipient of a World Label Award.

“Winning the ‘Best of the Best’ award is really as good as it can get in our industry. It is the most prestigious award in our industry,” said Stacy Daly, vice president, general manager and partner at ASL Print FX. “We’re thrilled to be honored, but we don’t win these awards without first aligning ourselves with partners who know the needs of our business and bring the resources required to produce this type of end result. Sun Chemical is one of those partners.”

Sun Chemical has supplied ink to ASL Print FX for more than 10 years and has earned the trust of the printer by bringing solutions that help cut costs and maintain high quality printing as required by their customers.

“Sun Chemical has been an invaluable long-term partner in supplying our ink,” Daly said. “The strength of our relationship allows us to focus on the growth of our business and the quality of our products. They have a great team who we work well with and have always supplied us with nothing but excellent service to satisfy the needs of our company.”

One of the solutions Sun Chemical brought to ASL Print FX was its Dispenser Program for the narrow web tag and label market. The Sun Chemical Dispenser Program allows printers to mix only the inks they need, reduce their inventory and waste, improve color-matching consistency, and significantly decrease total operating costs.

“The Sun Chemical Dispenser Program has worked very well for us,” Daly said. “We’re not wasting ink and have reduced our ink inventory by half. The program has saved us from overtime costs, improved productivity, and has provided the color consistency that our customers, who are major brands, demand to stay on the forefront in our industry. We’re very happy with the system and the service we’ve been getting from Sun Chemical.”

“We appreciate the relationship we have with an innovative printer like ASL Print FX and are thrilled to see their success in the Global Label Awards,” said Percy Agboat, director of sales in Canada, Sun Chemical. “Their success is our success and we look forward to working with them on their next technical need.”
