Heidelberg’s Saphira Bio Ink Series has achieved ISO 2846-1 conformance from Printing Industries of America (PIA). The ISO 2846-1 certification is the international standard used to determine the color and transparency conformance of 4-color lithographic printing inks.
The use of ISO-certified inks permits commercial offset printers to achieve outstanding print quality results in a fiercely competitive market. Users of ISO-certified inks are encouraged to affix the PIA ISO 2846-1 logo to their printed products, as well as to advertise their usage to customers.
With this conformance, Heidelberg Saphira Bio Inks become certified to help printers achieve G7 Master Printer status, which requires the use of inks defined by ISO 2846-1. The G7 Master Printer designation confirms that a company uses the most modern technology, techniques, proofing and press controls, and standards required to produce a close visual match from proof to print.
Heidelberg’s Prinect Color Toolbox with Gray Balance Optimizer was awarded the IDEAlliance G7 System Certification in 2011. In addition, all Heidelberg PCM (Print Color Management) service experts are G7 certified to qualify Heidelberg printers as G7 Master Printers.
“This new certification further validates the depth and breadth of Heidelberg’s longstanding consumables expertise,” said J.F. Colpron, vice president Prinect and consumables at Heidelberg USA. “It is also a further demonstration of Heidelberg’s commitment to helping printers become the best and most profitable print manufacturers they can become. Now printers can be even more confident in their use of compliant software, personnel, and ISO-certified inks from Heidelberg.”
Saphira Bio Inks are designed to meet the demanding requirements of today’s environmentally responsible printer. The inks combine outstanding lithographic performance, press productivity and print quality while containing ultra-low VOCs, sheetfed formulation technology, and a high percentage of bio-derived, renewable and sustainable raw materials. Saphira Bio Process Inks deliver robust performance across a broad range of press conditions, and are suitable for aqueous coating, offline UV coating, and lamination. Given its optimal press performance and stay-open capabilities, Saphira Bio Ink greatly minimizes makeready and restart waste.
Already used successfully by more than 125 printers, Saphira Bio Ink gives printers the edge they need to be both more competitive and environmentally responsible.
