Designed for commercial printers to manage what has typically resulted in an overabundance of spot color inventory and to reduce the possibility of having the wrong spot color, the Sun Chemical Dispenser Program can decrease a printer’s overall ink spend by up to 35 percent when blending the inks in-house and up to 46 percent if blended inks are purchased.
Commercial printers can receive the savings and a GFI dispensing unit along with color repeatability and accuracy, to within .001/lb, of their spot colors. The dispensing unit is provided to the printer at no cost by purchasing a minimum annual amount of Sun Chemical conventional commercial sheetfed bases and inks. Printers that sign up for the program will have better control and can provide a faster turnaround to meet the demands of their print jobs since they don’t need to wait for spot color inks to be delivered.
“In today’s challenging economic times, commercial printers are looking for ways to reduce their operating costs and we responded,” said Brian Breidigan, vice president product management commercial inks, North American Inks, Sun Chemical. “At Sun Chemical, we recognized that many printers frequently end up with more spot color inks than they need that just sit on their shelves. So we offered an answer that not only allows printers to mix the exact amount of spot color they need, but saves them a significant amount of money. It also ensures the right spot color is mixed.”
At the Pitman Company booth 2611, commercial printers can see a “live” demonstration of the dispensing unit and learn from a Sun Chemical Dispenser Program specialist how they can save money using the program.
Through the Dispenser Program, a printer has access to more than 100,000 colors through Sun Chemical’s SmartColour Global Shade Library.
Printers that sign up for the program will use Sun Chemical SunLit conventional commercial sheetfed bases with 20 percent strength in the dispensing unit. Printers will also have access to Sun Chemical’s SunLit 4-color process ink systems. The SunLit commercial sheetfed bases and inks available with this program are geared for strong print performance, offering ease of use on press and high print fidelity.
