EFI, the world leader in color digital print servers, superwide format printers and inks, and print management solutions, has received the Silver award in Canada's PrintAction Environmental Awards for its environmentally friendly BioVu(TM) ink in the category for the most progressive environmental process from a vendor to the printing industry. PrintAction is the leading business magazine for the graphic arts industry in Canada.

The only solvent-based ink recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), EFI BioVu ink is a revolutionary advancement in solvent inks and creates a new class of inks, Bio Solvent inks, which contain no harmful VOC's and have significantly improved health and environmental profiles. Made from corn, BioVu is the first solvent-based ink built from a renewable resource and is designed for use in superwide format printers such as market leader EFI VUTEk product line.

"We are pleased to be recognized in this prestigious award process," said Scott Schinlever, vice president and general manager of EFI's ink division. "EFI has made significant investments in reducing its own environmental footprint and helping customers reduce theirs. Receiving this award validates our strategic direction towards environmentally responsible printing technologies, and it is gratifying that our commitment is recognized by our peers."
