Negotiations for the restructuring of Siegwerk Benelux have been concluded, and a team of around 40 to 45 employees will continue to operate from Belgium.
The production of base and customer inks is being shifted from Bornem to other Siegwerk sites in the coming months. Smaller test batches of ink will still be supplied from Belgium's Technical Service Center, which includes a small dedicated laboratory to handle local technical service and new color matching work.
Sales activities from Siegwerk Benelux will continue as before; the local sales organization will be structured according to business units and will specialize on specific product groups. In addition, Siegwerk Benelux will play a role in some group treasury and IP rights management functions.
Once the restructuring and production transfers will have been finalized, Gerrit DeVisscher will take over the local site manager role from Yves de Poorter, who will leave the organization at that time. Following the restructuring, Siegwerk Benelux is projected to have an annual turnover of around €30 million.
"After a difficult and uncertain period, I want to thank all our employees in Bornem for the great effort they are making in continuing to serve our customers," says Siegwerk Board Member Hugo Noordhoek Hegt, head of PPL (Plastic, Paper & Label) Packaging. "Now we can look forward to the future. I am confident that we will continue to improve our service and our operations after this streamlining."
