The Research and Engineering (R&E) Council of the Graphic Arts Industry recently hosted more than 200 pressroom personnel and suppliers from the U.S.and Canada as they discussed The World Class Pressroom. According to the R&E Council, technical topics developed at the meeting were makeready procedures, production maintenance, on-press imaging, running by the numbers, and closed loop color control.
The meeting, which was held in Chicago, also addressed the introduction of new technologies by vendors and included a keynote address by Marc Olin, president and CEO of printCafe. Mr. Olin discussed how the world of E-commerce is already beginning to make an impact in the pressroom, citing the opportunity for printers to save time and money and improve communications.
