Comments: The leading global provider of security inks and solutions for most of the world’s banknotes as well as a wide range of documents, such as passports, transport tickets, plastic cards and lottery scratch cards, SICPA has offices and manufacturing sites in 26 locations on five continents. SICPA is the trusted technical advisor to central banks and banknote printers for selecting and integrating security features into upgraded and new banknote series.
To help combat counterfeiting and illicit trade of all kinds of products, SICPA has leveraged its expertise in developing inks and solutions for banknotes and value documents into integrated security systems. These systems combine SICPA’s security ink technology with state-of-the-art information technology that tracks a product from manufacture to final point of sale. Among its most recent successes was the September 2010 renewal of its contract with the California State Board of Equalization (BOE) to provide the state with a secure cigarette tax stamping system. SICPA’s initial five-year contract delivered more than 5 billion secure, encrypted tax stamps.
In sad news, Albert Amon, the visionary entrepreneur who brought SICPA to its current status as global leader in security inks, passed away in September 2010. He was 94. Mr. Amon joined SICPA in the 1930s to work with his father, Maurice Amon, the founder of the company. Albert Amon led the company’s efforts to expand globally as early as the 1950s, and today, the company is the global leader in security inks.
